Actome GmbH files for insolvency

 

Freiburg, Germany, 04.07.2025 

Actome GmbH is a life-science start-up from Freiburg, Germany advancing life science research and pharmaceutical drug development through our proprietary Protein Interaction Coupling (PICO) technology, enabling high-throughput and absolute quantification of proteins, protein interactions, and post-translational modifications with exceptional sensitivity and specificity. 

Recently, Actome has expanded its product portfolio to include advanced tools for the quantification and characterization of extracellular vesicles (EVs). These new tools leverage the sensitivity and precision of the PICO technology to enable absolute quantification of EV surface markers and cargo proteins, even at low abundance. This advancement opens up new possibilities for EV-based biomarker discovery, diagnostics, and therapeutic development across a range of disease areas.

On 02.07.2025, preliminary insolvency proceedings were ordered over the assets of Actome GmbH and Dr. Gesa Pantaleon gen. Stemberg from the law firm Pantaleon gen. Stemberg & Partner mbB was appointed as provisional insolvency administrator. "Our business operations are running at full capacity. The aim of the proceedings is to find a new investor in the short term, who will ideally also continue to operate the research. Together with the management, we will actively approach investors as part of the provisional proceedings in order to secure the future of the company. The motivated and highly qualified employees will support the process" announced the insolvency specialist Dr. Pantaleon gen. Stemberg, who was recently named top lawyer in the field of insolvency and restructuring law 2025 by Handelsblatt.

About the insolvency administrator and the law firm:

Dr. Gesa Pantaleon gen. Stemberg studied law at the University of Mannheim. After completing her first state examination, she obtained a doctorate in the field of inheritance law. She completed her legal clerkship in Freiburg and, after passing her second state examination, worked at the insolvency law firm Dr. Pantaleon gen. Stemberg, Nehrig & Weis, initially as an associate and then as a partner. In 2015, she joined the insolvency law firm Hoefer|Schmidt-Thieme as a partner and established the Freiburg, Offenburg and Salem offices for the law firm. She has been a specialist lawyer for insolvency and restructuring law since 2011 and has been regularly appointed as an insolvency administrator at various local courts in Baden-Württemberg since 2009. She is on the board of Distressed Ladies eV, a Germany-wide association for female experts in the restructuring and reorganization industry, and on the scientific advisory board of the German Association of Management Consultants (BDU e.V.). Dr. Pantaleon gen. Stemberg was recognized by WirtschaftsWoche in 2020 and 2022 and by Handelsblatt in 2025 as a top lawyer in the field of insolvency law. Since 1.10.2020 she has been working with a new unit in the law firm Pantaleon gen. Stemberg & Partner mbB, Rechtsanwälte Steuerberater with offices in Freiburg, Offenburg and Salem.
